Description
We are pleased to offer you this natural treasure of perfumery: ambergris from the Sperm Whale… This gem is now available at Sabily Collection for lovers of rare and exceptional scents!
This fragrance, a true ultra-niche masterpiece (best quality ingredients in perfumery), is a rare and precious creation designed for those seeking an essence of another level.
Our ambergris oil has a very deep, complex, and pleasant scent that brings constant joy throughout the day. It has a strong and profound aroma, offering a subtle and steady projection.
Made from very high-quality and highly concentrated pure ambergris (about 80%), it can be used directly as a perfume or as a fixative in your favorite blends.
Ambergris, derived from certain species of sperm whales, is one of the most valuable raw materials in perfumery. It is rare, and its fragrance is just as unique. In perfumes, ambergris is used as a fixative, and its scent can best be described as marine, animalic, and sweet. Ambergris has long been referred to as whale vomit. In the past, it was believed that the whale expelled this substance from its stomach, precisely from the sperm whale’s organic secretions.
However, recent research suggests that it primarily forms in the intestines of the sperm whale and is excreted by the animal rather than vomited from the stomach.
The dull gray or blackish waxy chunks mainly consist of undigested squid beaks (since the sperm whale’s primary prey is the giant squid), and it is believed that they help the mammal pass sharp objects through its intestines. Ambergris can float in the ocean for up to 30 years before washing ashore. While floating, a white layer forms on its exterior due to oxidation in salt water. Generally, lighter-colored pieces have a softer, milder scent and have spent more time at sea.
Ambergris can float in the ocean for many years. We cannot determine the ultimate drying duration of a piece, but ideally, it should drift in the ocean for as long as possible (20 to 30 years). The exact age of a piece cannot be estimated based on appearance alone. Historically, ambergris has been primarily used in perfume chemistry, though it has also been used for medicinal and flavoring purposes. It is one of the most significant amber-type odorants and is highly sought after. Ambergris has a very distinct scent animalic yet remarkably soft that particularly appeals to the female nose. In fact, ambergris, like all animal-derived aromatic substances, acts as a pheromone and influences the hormonal system directly through the sense of smell, without physical contact.
Returning to our oil, it consists of 80% ambergris blended with other natural oils to maintain its liquid state. Designed for connoisseurs in search of exclusivity, this fragrance is an olfactory treasure rare and precious.
It is one of the most exotic fragrances you will ever experience. This oil is so rare that only a few people have the chance to try it. Nevertheless, it will change your perception of ambergris oil and even the world around you. Sometimes, it takes months or even years for ambergris oil to develop its unique scent, and it takes a long time before it starts smelling like well-aged cigars or pipe tobacco. If you love smooth, strong, and unique fragrances, then this oil is for you!
